The gentleman that I just spoke with this morning told me that they have to record of that case number with was given to me yesterday by Amanda. PHCS tell you one thing one day and something completely different the next day. Horrible company to deal with!!!! Stay away if at all possible….. After over 90 minutes of trying to find a doctor that took my insurance, I finally found a single one.
The search on the website is horrible. It returns providers all over the state instead of those within the search radius. When searching for a General Practitioner I was given phone numbers of OBs, pediatricians, spinal specialists, urgent care, but not a single GP. When I called, I was given a list of physicians only one of which was even close to where I live. When I tried to get better information, the customer service representative hung up on me. I have a plan that uses the PHCS network.
My kids were just put on this plan. There is no Dr in my area to take this insurance. All but one Dr on their list actually takes it and it is 36 miles away in another state. I have never had so much difficulty, with an insurance company trying to get information. I have yet to find a doctor from their website that even knows this insurance exists.
I have had doctors call them three times or more to ask about my coverage, and they get a different answer every time. And these are only the things worth mentioning. I have yet to have a positive experience with PHCS.
He out right lied about the prescription cost — saying 20 dollars for generics, 50 dollars for brand name drugs. The truth is — I only received a generic discount card. UP to 50 percent-off.
I needed a prep med for a colonoscopy under a different insurance, thank God The prescription cost I am outraged! I could go on with my dissatisfaction for days. This should be against the law. When I called to complain, I was told a supervisor would call me to discuss.

They refuse to pay most bills including emergency. The website search feature is very narrow — a doctor may have 2 offices, but will only be listed in one location.
So if you use the wrong zip code, the doctor does not come up. The help line is useless. I have met my deductible for the yr.
But specialist cannot confirm that deductible has been met due to the fact it is taking PSCS days to upload EOB…frustrating to say the least.
Company provided insurance to employees. I called one of the customer service numbers and all they do is giving me the list of providers.
When I called the number of my insurance card the ladies were so rude and never called me back even though I left them a voice message.
They are not willing to help sick people. If you keep doing this you will lose your customers because there are so many bigger and better insurance companies out there. Please please improve your coverage and customer service. I was scheduled for a surgery, the week before, they tell me that they cover the surgeon only, not any hospitals in my area. Where is my surgeon supposed to do the operation, on my kitchen table? This is ridiculous, even the hospital and the doctor have said they never heard of this ever happening.
This is a joke, do not waste your time and money. They do not pay for anything! I have a letter of authorization for my surgery and yet I cannot use it anywhere! I have gotten epidural injections in my back for sciatic nerve pain for several years,all my previous insurance has covered this.
I see no need in having insurance that pays nothing, so never enroll in this company insurance. My company made a big mistake moving to them. Also, for all the negative comments above, PHCS is not the insurance company, it is the network.
There is a huge difference. I checked with the website and was assured that a particular physician I wanted a consult from was part of the plan. They never paid him, even after two years of go-rounds with them. I will pay it because I am an honest person, and I believe he should be compensated. But that means that greedy, evil PHCS has won again. Never enroll with these jerks. We use many doctors in Rapid City, but every clinic we are contacting is not in network and of all doctors in RC only a handful are participating!
So much for affordable health care! Once again the insurance companies and their affiliates stick it to their paying customers! I looked up a doctor on the multiplan website and called. Within a couple hours I was being seen by the doctor and there was no cost to me for the visit. Generic prescriptions were free as well. I have nothing to complain about here, very happy that everything went so smooth.
That being said, the overall selection is mediocre. For example, they contracted with my favorite orthopedic physician, but not the facility he operates at nor any of his associates including anesthesiologists and preferred physical therapists. PHCS is networked under the KPIC umbrella which from personal experience is a lousy insurance company with expensive premiums and copayments. No one ever answers the phone at their office. He wants me to get my mammogram, PHCS is sending me 30 miles away.
Doc also referred me to WellSpan Urogynecology. I give up. Nearly bucks are taken out of her check each month for what? It will not cover NONE of her diabetic equipment! This includes strips, insulin pens, meters, or lancets. This is a shame and degrading! They should be ashamed of themselves for offering this kind of insurance!
And the only reason each one of these ratings has one star is that it was necessary before I could post my comment!!!!! So I have had to change Drs. I was prescribed a medicine from my gastro 2 weeks ago and they have still not authorized it.
Also, have been going to a podiatrist for months, she just suggested a procedure, scheduled it, but now I find out the hospital she goes to does not have a contract with PHCS. We had MultiPlan because the premium was less than BlueCross. After going to a couple of in network specialist, it was not less.
Stay away. My 1st payment was in Jan. Everything is loosely written not black and white. The co. For ex. Can you believe this? There was nothing written that discusses what is covered. I was negligent since i trusted the agent who i thought listened to what i needed and guided me to the best policy. I did not immediately read the booklet, but instead put it on the shelf. Terrible company and a complete ripoff. Good network. Very affordable.
Found numerous doctors in my area that accept this provider thru multiplan network. Well just got on this plan and I have to wait 30 days to see a doctor! Not happy at all!! Might have to look for something else after reading these reviews!! I am unhappy and will be leaving the company as soon as possible. I pay dollars just for my husband and I my kids are not included.

Must be a horrible plan for providers too! There are major holes in the health care coverage areas. I have asked them to go out and actively seek more providers and nothing has happened.
They do not work for the consumers who are paying their wages. PHCS picks and chooses what they want to cover, and has cost my co-workers thousands of dollars. Website is difficult to maneuver. Website is not up to date. Customer service is horrible, you are lucky if you can speak to a person when you call in. This is after I have spent several minutes on hold. Absolutely the worst insurance. This insurance is garbage. Beware they have about 7 different co-insurances and pay very little or none of the claims.
Any employer who gets this for their employees should not have any employees. If you are considering purchasing this insurance, no need. All you need to do is take all of your money, light it on fire, and then file for bankruptcy. You can be completely covered, go to doctors within their network, and they will not cover you.

Please beware of these scam artists. They do not provide real insurance coverage. If you ask any pointed questions during enrollment, they will hang up on you. These folks are absolute coverage and only out to steal your hard earned money and will provide you zilch. What a rip-off. If you want to waste a whole day trying to find a doctor that is in network and never really be assured they are…waste your money on PHCS. PHCS will then tell you those numbers mean nothing to them.
They refer you to a website that is supposedly accurate and updated every 24 hours. Once you find a One you think is in network.. The only help I received from their karis- their, help line, was to pay the bill on my own and then forward the statement on to them and hope for the best.
The icing on the cake is RX coverage. Are you kidding me? You might as well NOT have insurance. I tried for 6 weeks to get in to see a regular Doctor for a physical. I even scheduled an appointment after selecting a Dr from their website. I live North. Give me a break!
