Just got my medicaid approved a couple days ago and this morning I got a packet in the mail saying to choose what plan I want and what doctor I want on my medicaid card?? Its so much, its confusing. Dont know what plan would be best for me..
Amerigroup or Molina seem pretty nice. But I'm not sure. Help anyone?? Newest First. That's how I'd choose! That's what I did. The most common is Parkland Health First, but my provider takes Amerigroup.
Like someone else said, look at which hospital you want to deliver at first. Then narrow it down by what else the plan offers that may better suit your needs. Something I did in choosing a physician from the plan was looking at where their office is located -I chose a doctor in a brand new facility.
Not that another doctor would be less efficient or skilled, but I have had the run-down clinic experience in the past and didn't want to do that again. I might switch to parkland.. Didn't go with Molina bc there wasn't as many perks for pregnant women. Has anyone gone through this?
Also read about scams for dental procedures on children on Medicaid which did not make me feel any better. I did get a second opinion and they both said this was needed.

Parkland is more for pregnancy and infants. The 3rd one sucks maybe thats why I dont remember it, but its not called Superior, so I have no clue if its better than Amerigroup. Did you ever get on medicaid? My kids have superior and so far have not had any issues. We usually don't have too much of a delay in getting referrals and our ped is wonderful. I want to say its called Superior CentAccount or something like that. For the most part I have no complaints with superior itself.
If anyone complains it is usually the providers because sometimes they delay in paying but that is something I heard years ago.
I have never head of Amerigroup though. I know when I chose plans Superior had the most offered in regards to dental, vision and other services. Thanks all so much for your responses! In the end, i went with Amerigroup because despite the directory, it was hard to find a doctor still accepting patients. The only doctor i found only accepted Amerigroup and not Superior. I think it will be fine.
I know in some states, once the child qualifies for Medicaid, the parents do too, which makes sense but not in TX. I have an application coming in the mail i've tried to do the app online but keep having problems with the website.
